The Firm's attorneys have extensive experience in representing local governments and municipalities and their elected and appointed officials, as well as their police departments, volunteer fire departments and paramedic squads in cases ranging from dangerous road conditions to Section 1983 civil rights actions:
- Governmental Immunity from Liability. Successfully litigated a significant case in which Pennsylvania's Commonwealth Court considered a township's governmental immunity from liability for an automobile collision with a fallen tree under the Pennsylvania Political Subdivision Tort Claims Act. Mylett v. Adamsky. et al., 139 Pa. Cmwlth. 637, 591 A.2d 341 (1991).
- Civil Rights Actions. Effectively represented numerous municipalities, their supervisory boards and their elected and appointed officials and employees in various civil rights actions in state and federal courts arising from land use and zoning decisions, alleged politically motivated firings, enactment and enforcement of ordinances and excessive use of force by police officers.
- Conditions On Municipal Property. Represented municipal clients in personal injury actions involving allegedly hazardous conditions existing on municipal streets, sidewalks and playing fields and in municipal buildings, schools, firehouses and police stations, often succeeding in having the municipality dismissed from the lawsuit either voluntarily or by motion.
- Prisoners' Civil Rights Actions. Represent county prisons in §1983 actions involving alleged deliberate indifference to medical conditions, excessive use of force by correction officers and improper living conditions.
