Listed below are a sampling of the types of employment practices claims that we have handled:
- Wrongful Termination and Retaliation. Successfully defended wrongful termination and retaliation claims involving alleged public policy exceptions to the employment-at-will doctrine and violations of whistle-blowing statutes.
- Racial Discrimination, Sexual Discrimination, Age Discrimination, Sexual Harassment and Hostile Work Environment. Effectively represented our corporate clients and insureds in cases where employers were sued for alleged discriminatory hiring practices and promotion criteria. We have also aggressively represented our clients for alleged violations of Title VII, the Violence Against Women Act and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act. Our attorneys have handled cases involving related tort claims such as assault, battery and intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress.
- Administrative Process Before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission. Counseled clients during the intra-company investigation of claims before formal proceedings are commenced by an employee with the EEOC and PHRC. The Firm then defends its clients through each stage of these proceedings.
- Employer Practices Counseling. In an effort to prevent litigation, the Firm is committed to assisting its corporate clients, insurance companies and insureds concerning their compliance with state and federal laws governing their hiring/firing practices, sexual harassment polices and the adequacy of their employee manuals. We can counsel employers and employees concerning appropriate workplace conduct to minimize employers' exposure to these types of claims.
